Environment Convenor's Report, August 2010


 

1.Visions of Currie. Exhibition week 6 Goods Yard) in place — to be continued next week
2.Report of PNP Environment and Transport Group
°Allotments — Geo V Park not to be pursued at this time. Blinkbonny park to go to further community consultation.
°City asked to provide a programme of roads maintenance - Roads maintenance schedule is on the web.
°CCC could request a graffiti removal kit if required.
°Management plan for Redford Wood — including a care home.
°Environmental Warden to organise a litter education programme for schools.
°Bloomiehall Park is 100 years old next year ?celebration ?CCC involvement.
°Disabled parking proposal to disallow on double yellow line. Consultative document on Scottish Government website.
°Polo Fields. Proposal for a community garden. This will be a test case. Might involve community buy out. "Protection of open space.
°Meeting supported the need for improvements to the WoL footbridge at Splash Bathrooms — it collects mud in wet weather.
°Farmers' Market. Stalls were purchased by the PNP and should be available to other community groups for a nominal fee.
°Primary school children's request for a crossing over Lanark Road at the Co-op garage to be supported and passed on for action.
°Controversial planning applications — we can ask for a stakeholders meeting .
